We can beat the heat with a very “cool” person for July’s Member Highlight – Ellen Mallory.
Ellen grew up in Southern California and spent most of her adult life in San Mateo. She earned her BA in Political Science from Principia College and her MBA from UC Irvine.
While in San Mateo, she immersed herself in local politics. She wasn’t enthralled with the direction there, so she moved to Sacramento about four years ago.
She owns a 1914 Craftsman home and has been in the process of restoring it. Her home was featured on the Historic Home Tour in 2023. She also serves on the Preservation Sacramento Board of Directors.
Her business is very interesting as she is the Regional Manager and co-owner of Laguna Greenworks. The company was created to promote environmentally conscious products, and they are Master Distributors for Dyson Professional Products and Excel Dryers.
She has two grown daughters, Annika and Teressa, and a Corgi named Prudence. Annika is going into her second year of business school and Teressa will be starting her first year.
The most important thing Ellen learned in life is that differences of opinion make the world go round. Impact100 is very grateful for her skills and contributions!
What is the aspect about Impact100 you are most passionate about?
– My love for Impact100 is two-fold. First, the women I work with are amazing – intelligent, committed to our community and fun! And second, I love getting into the nitty gritty details with nonprofits here in the community and helping them achieve their goals.
What is one thing we should know about you?
– I love to cook, and trying new recipes is especially fun.
If you could have lunch with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
– Michelle Obama. She’s an amazing woman in her own right – she is a successful professional, and she has two daughters like me. I think it would be so interesting to hear her take on the world.
What is your favorite restaurant?
– My two favorite restaurants are Paragary’s and La Venadita, though I usually cook at home.
What are your hobbies?
– My main hobbies are Pilates, cooking of course, walking my dog around the neighborhood, reading and working on my house.
What is/are your favorite travel destination(s)?
– I loved Iceland and Ireland. I’ve tried to visit all my “nationalities”, which gives me a lot to choose from according to Ancestry. I’ve enjoyed seeing many parts of Western Europe and many places here in the USA.
What is a place you haven’t traveled, but would love to visit?
– Africa
